ALANAH Fischer has had an appetising introduction to a culinary career.

The Mindarie Senior College Year 11 student received a bronze medal in the 2015 WorldSkills WA regional VETiS commercial cookery competition this month.

Her West Coast Institute chef lecturer Claire Rowley nominated her for the competition, and she recently completed Certificate II in kitchen operation.

Continuing her path towards a career in the hospitality and catering industry, Alanah will be a school-based apprentice next year, studying a Certificate III in commercial cookery co-ordinated by Hospitality Group Training.
