The Shire held a ‘Thank our volunteers day’ at Granville Park on February 16, attended by 60 people.

Shire President Michael Aspinall said seven volunteer champions had been recognised by their peers for outstanding performance, dedication and commitment to their roles in community organisations.

Freeman Pat Elliot presented the Community Spirit awards to Gavin Campbell, from Gingin Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Dennis Kuhl (Gingin/Chittering Lions Club), Sylvia Harris (Country Women’s Association), Nathan Troy (Neergabby Community Association), Robert Mercado (Gingin/Chittering St John Ambulance), Alan MacAskill (Woodridge St John Ambulance/Gingin West Bush Fire Brigade) and Debbie Gowans (Moore River News).
