Beach access to Yanchep Lagoon to be closed from Tuesday

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

BEACH access stairs outside the kiosk at Yanchep Lagoon will close for about two weeks from Tuesday.

City of Wanneroo will close the stairs to help with construction of the new Yanchep Surf Life Saving Club, expected to be finished this year.

“During this time, a temporary stair access way will be erected to ensure access to the beach is not interrupted,” a statement said.

The council approved the concept design for the nearby Picnic Cove redevelopment last night, with more than $480,000 allocated for the upgrade.

Following community consultation earlier in the year, the park will feature a lookout, seating areas, shelter, barbeques and tiered grassed areas.

Construction will take place in the first half of 2017.
