Big boxer get-together

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

Kellie Karlson started the social group on Facebook last year for people in the area who owned that dog breed, and told the Times a dozen dogs and twice as many people attended the April 14 gathering in Benenden Park.

With her own pair of boxers, Magnus (3) and six-month-old Matilda, the Butler resident said she had noticed there were a few boxers in the area, and started the group to connect owners.

‘The boxer is just such a clown of a dog ” they are just a friendly dog,’ she said.

‘Quite a lot of the people that were there on (April 14) do have two boxers as opposed to just the one ” they keep each other company.

‘They just seem to be able to relate to their breed more.’

Mrs Karlson said the Brighton Boxers Facebook page also helped people looking for boxer puppies and advised on caring for their pets.

While most of the owners came from Butler, Quinns Rocks, Clarkson and surrounding areas, she said people had attended from as far as Kingsley and the page had attracted people across Perth.

Mrs Karlson said they might hold their next event on the beach.
