The Quinns Rocks Primary School Year 1 student will be taking part in the Cancer Council WA fundraiser on October 19 and 20 with family and friends.

‘I like running ” I’m doing it for my grandpas because some of them died,’ Joshua said.

His mother Jackie Vernon said three family members had died from cancer, so the family wanted to raise money and awareness for the charity.

‘My father died of lung cancer, my husband’s step-father died of a brain tumour and my sister’s husband passed away recently,’ she said.

Mrs Vernon said they had sponsored a team in another event and Joshua had said he wanted to do a race.

‘He is quite a charitable child,’ she said.

‘He sponsors my chief executive to do the (Vinnies CEO) Sleepout out of his own pocket money.’
