Boy (15) charged over spray attack

Joondalup detectives charged the 15-year-old boy with grievous bodily harm after he handed himself into police on Monday following the incident at a supermarket on March 27.

WA Police Acting Sergeant Barbara Crane said a man (44) parked his vehicle outside the supermarket on Kingsbridge Boulevard about 8.30pm.

“When he opened the door he was confronted by three juvenile males, who asked for cigarettes; instead the man offered to buy them a drink,” she said.

“It will be further alleged that one of the boys then sprayed him to the face with a liquid substance.

“All three boys then left the area riding away on small alloy scooters.

“The victim was unable to drive and later taken to his home address, where he had breathing difficulties.

“CPR was provided until St John Ambulance officers arrived and administered further medical treatment.”

Sgt Crane said the boy would appear in Joondalup Children’s Court on April 5 and detectives were still investigating.
