NORTH coast residents will soon have a second swimming centre closer to home when State Swim opens in Butler next month.
The Landbeach Boulevard facility is due to open on November 7, providing tuition for children and adults.
State Swim chief executive and director Christian Urry said that pool size, water quality and highly skilled teachers were the secret to child water safety and enjoyment.
“Knowing how to be safe in the water and learning to swim is the best survival skill a child can have,” he said.
“Our young Australians have the right to learn in the best environment possible through State Swim’s special design criteria that enables all to enjoy learning to swim in a modern, well ventilated, all-year-round facility.”
Mr Urry said it would have easy parking and a professionally designed teaching system that enabled members to move into higher classes as they got older.
The school will initially open Monday to Saturday, moving to seven days a week next year.
There is also a privately-run facility – The Swim School Merriwa – in the area, with the nearest public pools at Arena Joondalup and Aquamotion in Wanneroo.
