RIMS took on a silver tint as the volunteers celebrated a milestone for the Yanchep Two Rocks Community Bus.

About 50 people attended the 25th anniversary celebrations of the volunteer-driven service in Two Rocks on October 13.

Transport co-ordinator Julie Otremba said drivers, volunteers from the bingo fundraisers and passengers joined in the celebration at the Phil Renkin Recreation Centre.

Mrs Otremba said the Yanchep and Districts Country Women’s Association prepared the morning tea.

‘Freda Burden, one of the first passengers on the bus, had a cake made for the occasion,’ she said.

‘We gave out certificates to volunteers and to the City of Wanneroo and also Yanchep Sun City.’

The City of Wanneroo’s chief executive Daniel Simms, its community development director Fiona Bentley and Mayor Tracey Roberts attended, as did Yanchep Sun City’s director Jun Sasaki and Motoki Yamada.
