Bushfire advice for Nowergup and Gwelup

THE Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued advice for a bushfire in Nowergup this morning.

About 20 fire service and parks and wildlife crews are attending the fire, as well as aerial support.

There is a lot of smoke in the area and the bushfire is moving slowly in a westerly direction.

It started near the junction of Lake Road and Wattle Avenue West.

UPDATE, 8.55am: Emergency services have also been called to a bushfire in Gwelup, reported near the Mitchell Freeway and Karrinyup Road about 8.45am.

UPDATE, 10.20am: Wattle Avenue West and Darrell Road have been closed as firefighters strengthen containment lines and mop up the Nowergup fire.

Bush fire brigade said and the Parks and Wildlife servicr have sent 49 firefighters to the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.

It was reported about 3.54am on February 11 and currently has burnt through about 1ha.
