Butler Toastmasters holds first speech competition

BUTLER Toastmasters recently held its first speech and evaluators competitions.

The three speech contestants delivered their topics on February 27, including “The Fabric of Life” by Angela Burchardt, “Freedom” a military theme by Carsten Reimers and “Whisper” by Sam Walsham.

Those doing the evaluations were also judged for their skill in helping each speaker improve their delivery.

“Sam won both sections of the Butler competition and has since won the Northern Area Speech Competition,” Ms Burchardt said.

“He now qualifies to advance further through state and national levels towards international competition.

“Plaudits to Almarie Meyer, president, for making it happen and to Nikki Thomas who chaired both sections of the club competition.”

Ms Burchardt said toastmasters from other areas, including the Currambine club, helped.
