Peter and Margaret Richardson were the first of more than 15,000 future residents to settle on their block at Alkimos Beach.
The Richardsons now have ownership of Lot 234 on Pectoral Promenade, where they plan to build a three-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage on the 375sqm block.
Mrs Richardson said the couple, both in their 70s, bought at Alkimos Beach to be near the ocean in their retirement years.
‘It’s absolutely wonderful to be the first to settle and we are now looking forward to our build starting,’ she said.
Alkimos Beach project director Martin Gaedke said the first settlement was a significant milestone in the community’s development.
‘Alkimos Beach is officially on its way to becoming the most significant coastal development north of Perth in 50 years,’ he said.
‘This settlement begins the next phase of the development, with the display village and home construction beginning in the next few months.’
LandCorp’s metropolitan general manager Luke Willcock said: ‘Years have been spent planning the Alkimos Beach community and the visual part of development is just starting ” it’s a very exciting time,’ he said. The first two stages of Alkimos Beach are now open to the public.
