A DELECTABLE fairy castle and decorated teapot have earned two northern suburbs bakers top honours in a cake competition.

The stunning creations by Yanchep’s Sue Fleet and Tracey Merrey, of Carramar, are on display at the Perth Royal Show after they were recognised by judges in the annual cookery competition.

Ms Fleet won the fairy castle category in the amateur section for her delicate work featuring climbing roses and was highly commended in the ‘very very colourful cake’ category in the open section.

Ms Merrey’s intricate teapot received first place in the decorated teapot class. She also won a high commendation in decorated wedding cakes and second place in the frills or flounces category, all in the open section.The winning cakes are on display in the cookery pavilion at Claremont Showground until Oct 1.
