Playground rehomed at refuge for women and children

Staff WriterNorth Coast Times

A NORTHERN suburbs women’s refuge has received a playground and two bench seats following a sales office closure in Clarkson.

When the Catalina Central sales office closed so another could open in Catalina Beach, Mindarie, Tamala Park Regional Council donated a toddler playground and two park bench seats to the Patricia Giles Centre.

Landscaping company LD Total donated time and effort to re-install the play equipment at the refuge, which provides safe crisis accommodation and counselling for women and children affected by domestic violence.

Satterley project director Carl Buckly recently visited the centre with Tony Aria from Tamala Park Regional Council and Michael Gottschalk, Mark Wilson and Ray Skeet from LD Total and saw how much fun the kids are having on the re-purposed play equipment.

“I was looking out the window at the children who were having endless fun on the new playground,” a refuge spokeswoman said.

“They were laughing uncontrollably and having fun in the sand.”
