THE City of Wanneroo has accepted a tender from Surf Life Saving WA to provide beach safety services for another three years from November.

A report on the August 16 council meeting agenda said the City consulted both local volunteer surf-lifesaving clubs, Yanchep and Quinns Mindarie, to see if they had the capacity to increase their services.

“Yanchep Surf Life Saving Club advised no change to their intended service delivery,” it said.

“Quinns Mindarie Surf Life Saving Club indicated that they would be looking to extend their Saturday patrols by two hours and their Sunday patrols by one hour.”

It said that would not affect the SLSWA services, which have been provided to the City for more than 17 years.

Paid lifeguards will patrol Yanchep Lagoon and Quinns Beach on weekdays between November and March, and provide a roving patrol.
