City of Wanneroo steps up efforts to monitor sand drift in drier seasons

SAND and dust drift issues expected in spring and summer have prompted the City of Wanneroo to step up its efforts to tackle the problems during the dry months.

A statement released by the City today said it had been working with developers in recent years to manage sand drift, and the number of complaints from residents had reduced.

However, it said the City had ongoing strategies to reduce the impact of nuisance sand drift and dust, and officers were doing weekly inspections and liaising with developers to implement their dust management strategies.

They can take enforcement action if remedial work to address reported problems is not done within 48 hours of a written instruction from the City.

People can call compliance officers on 9405 5000 during office hours from Monday to Friday to investigate sand and dust problems, while the rangers are available after hours, including Saturdays and Sundays, on 1300 138 393.
