A CLARKSON couple are preparing to putt against the world’s best minigolf players next month.
David Maiolo and Belinda August will be on the first Australian team to take part in the Minigolf World Championships in Croatia.
Mr Maiolo will team up with four other male players from the eastern states to compete against about 200 others in the September 20-23 championships.

READ NOWHe also plans to compete in the Minigolf World Adventure Golf Masters at the same venue from September 11-12, which is expected to have about 90 competitors.
“This is the first time Australia is represented – we are all going to be kitted out in green and gold,” Miss August said.
“The New Zealand team went over two years ago.”
The couple have four daughters between them, and girl guide leader Miss August said she decided to go as well to “represent women”.
“Six months ago I didn’t even own a passport; now I’m going to be in Croatia for my birthday,” she said.
Miss August said the competitive sport was popular in Europe and the US, where players had hundreds of balls in different weights, sizes and colours to suit different holes.
