CLARKSON police have warned people to lock their letterboxes following a spike in mail thefts.
“We put that out on social media to give people a bit of a tip to lock their letterboxes,” Senior Sergeant Stephen Foley said.
“We’ve had a bit of a spike for stealing out of letterboxes.
“If they find credit cards, it can lead to fraud; plus the inconveniences to people of their mail being stolen.”
Sgt Foley said people should call 131 444 immediately if they saw people acting suspiciously around letterboxes, and hand discarded mail in.
“If anyone finds any letter or mail in the street, you can take it to the police station,” he said.
