Clarkson teen sentenced to detention for attack on Currambine woman

A CLARKSON boy has been sentenced to 72 days in detention after attacking a 38-year-old woman in Currambine.

The 14-year-old offender faced Perth Children’s Court on February 1.

Police said the victim was walking in a park near Currambine Boulevard and Doncaster Square on January 9 when the teenager began following her.

As they reached Metroliner Drive, he grabbed the woman from behind and tackled her to the ground.

The victim defended herself as the teenager attempted to steal her mobile phone.

She kicked the phone away and the attacker fled after stealing her earphones.

On January 18, police charged the boy with robbery and assault with intent to commit a robbery.

He was sentenced to 36 days in juvenile detention for each count.
