Staff WriterNorth Coast Times

A TRADIE from Clarkson was Western Australia’s 42nd Division One winner for 2018.

The State’s latest winner, who has collected his $443,884 prize from the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw, said he couldn’t believe his eyes when checking his ticket for the winning numbers in the newspaper on Sunday.

“I just kept pacing around the room not knowing what to do with myself,” he said.

The man has been purchasing his weekly Lotto ticket for the past 28 years and said this Lotto draw did feel particularly lucky.

“My entry had two of my favourite numbers – my nanna and mum’s birthdays,” he said.

“I told my mum I had a good feeling about this one and when I found out I had won, I couldn’t wait to tell her the news.

“I’m sure looking forward to seeing my bank statement. I don’t think it will really sink in until then.”

The Clarkson tradie said his initial plans were to invest a bulk of the money, but was considering buying a “fixer upper” house to renovate and sell on.

“I’ve got some friends who buy, renovate and sell on property as their full-time jobs. Who knows, maybe I’ll give it a crack,” he said.

“But in the meantime, I’ll purchase some new tools and gear for my trade and go on my first overseas holidays since I was a kid.”

This win is the second for City of Wanneroo this month, following a FIFO worker turned millionaire who will hang up his hat to spend more time with family.
