The Yanchep Two Rocks Recreation Association will hold a Yaps and Yarns night beside the fireplace at Yanchep Inn on August 26.

President Pamela Williamson said she came up with the idea at a volunteers’ breakfast when she sat next to pioneering resident Stan Daley.

‘He was telling me that he lived in a little tin shed by the side of Yanchep lake (Loch McNess) and I just started to think of these stories that should be preserved,’ she said.

Ms Williamson said the association would hold the first event this month as a casual dinner to bring out fun stories.

‘There is a strong sense of community here ” when I came here, I found not just a community but a family,’ she said.

‘In 2002 I came up here and it was just such a quiet little place.’

Yanchep Inn owner Tony Villanova said the venue would provide a $12 menu at the event, with three main course choices.

‘It is really to get people together and to talk about their experiences in the area informally,’ he said.

Barbara Morgan will be the MC for the evening and coaxing out stories, which the group hopes to record.
