A ROOFTOP car park in Clarkson is undergoing maintenance to fix cracks that have appeared since its construction two years ago.
Ocean Keys Shopping Centre marketing manager Victoria Hansen said the cracks on the top level of the multi-deck car park had appeared as the building settled since completion in 2014.
A reader, who asked to remain anonymous, contacted the Times with concerns about the “structural integrity” of the top level of the car park.
“Early on I noticed many repaired cracks in the concrete and one small area closed off with what appeared to be a repaired hole not much smaller than a parking space,” she said.
“Recently, I’ve noticed a very large area partitioned-off. Is the car park safe?”
Ms Hansen said the maintenance work would minimise leaks and other problems in the future.
“Our engineers have made a full assessment and have confirmed that there is no impact to the structural integrity of the car park,” she said.
“Some sections of the Ocean Keys rooftop car park will be temporarily closed to allow for works to be carried out.
“The rooftop car park continues to be open to all vehicles and parking is available throughout the works program.
“This works program does not impact any other car park areas at Ocean Keys.”
According to the centre’s website, works could continue until the end of next month.
