Cosy for cancer

Staff ReporterNorth Coast Times

Lynnette Nabholz, Robin Saunders and Margaret Collins are planning to hold a pyjama party on July 12 to raise money for the Two Rocks Yanchep Assisted Cancer Travels group.

Mrs Nabholz, who moved to Yanchep eight years ago, told members of the group at their June 12 meeting that she had had cancer while living in Darwin.

She said she was lucky she could get chemotherapy there, but others had had to fly to Perth or Melbourne for radiation treatment.

‘So many people seem to be getting it,’ Mrs Nabholz said.

When she heard about the fledgling group that will provide transport for people travelling to hospital for treatment, she wanted to help, and decided to hold a women-only event.

‘The idea is to have a bit of female camaraderie and fun, while learning about the problems faced by so many cancer patients, and by so doing, supporting a really good cause,’ she said.

‘You can wear a nightie, a dressing gown, pyjamas …’

Mrs Nabholz said there would be prizes for the most glamorous and worst sleepwear, plus raffles and prizes.
