The council will consider an update on the proposed north Alkimos dog beach, and giving public notice to prohibit dogs in specific public areas.

Two reports were prompted by changes to the Dog Act that removed local laws dictating where dogs could be exercised.

‘All public reserves vested in or under the care, control and management of the City of Wanneroo (excluding Kingsway Sporting Complex) and road and street reserves are designated as dog exercise areas for the purpose of the Dog Act,’ it said.

The report said restrictions had to be established through a council resolution, and recommended the City exclude road reserves, foreshore areas except existing dog beaches in Quinns Rocks, Yanchep and Two Rocks, public buildings, shops and businesses, Fred Stubbs Park and Wanneroo Showground.

If council approves the recommendation, it will give 28 days of public notice.
