Agenda papers for its May 2 meeting sought approval from member councils to allocate $1.5 million in the 2013-14 budget for a tender for the next stage of clay lining at the Tamala Park facility.
‘The clay lining works is a requirement of Mindarie Regional Council’s licence and provides an affective barrier preventing waste from leeching out with the landfill and is not discretional,’ the report said.
All member council representatives, which includes councillors from the cities of Joondalup, Wanneroo, Stirling, Perth and Vincent, and towns of Cambridge and Victoria Park, approved the recommendation.
