Daughters treat Merriwa couple to 65th anniversary surprise

Under the guise of taking them out for lunch, the couple’s daughters instead threw them a surprise party to mark their 65th wedding anniversary this month.

Mrs Lamond (86) said nearly 30 family members, many of whom she had not seen in a long time, attended.

“It was absolutely marvellous, it was wonderful,” she said.

She said her husband, who turned 89 this month, had been unwell, so they made the most of the occasion.

“Sixty-five years is a long time,” she said.

“We make the most of what time we have.

“Everything goes along quite well, we are quite happy.”
