Dead sea turtle discovered near lagoon

Staff ReporterNorth Coast Times

A Department of Parks and Wildlife spokesman said the turtle may have been the prey of a larger marine animal such as a tiger shark, as turtles were part of their diet.

‘(Or) it may have died in the water and later been preyed on by a variety of marine animals (or) it may have been struck by a vessel before or after death,’ the spokesman said.

‘Members of the public who find native animal carcasses or stranded, injured or orphaned native animals are asked to call DPaW’s Wildcare Helpline on 9474 9055.
