At the April 26 meeting, councillors supported a report that recommended not seeking an alternative entry to the unsealed track that led from Dame Pattie and Sovereign drives in Two Rocks to parking near Dewars Beach.

The report followed a petition submitted on December 8 to relocate the track, and at a special council meeting a week later, the council decided to close the popular four-wheel-drive track on January 15.

The April 26 report said the private landowner had been consulted about opening an alternative access, but was “strongly opposed” to doing so.

“Without the support of the adjoining landowner, council cannot reopen the track and therefore an alternative track entrance point cannot be considered,” it said.
