Diabetes program for women

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

Diabetes WA will run three-hour interactive sessions for the ‘Walking away from diabetes’ program for groups of up to 10 women from late January to April.

A City statement said participants at each session would receive advice on increasing physical activity, healthy food choices and identifying risk factors.

“The program is designed for women who have previously had gestational diabetes and who have a 50 per cent chance of getting type 2 diabetes in the future,” it stated.

“The program is suitable for women who have previously had gestational diabetes, but not those who have a current diagnosis of gestational or type 2 diabetes.”
