PEOPLE aged eight and older can try their hand at sailing in Two Rocks next month.
Sun City Yacht Club will hold two free ‘Discover Sailing’ days at Two Rocks Marina, on September 3 and 16.
“One of our members will skipper each of the dinghies and any age 8 and above can try sailing, or from six years old if accompanied by a parent,” past commodore John Utley said.
“There will also be canoes available for paddling within the marina.
“All safety equipment is provided but its recommended that visitors bring footwear that can go in the water along with a hat.”
Mr Utley finished his three-year term as commodore recently, with Wayne Hartas voted in to take the helm.
The club’s summer sailing season starts on October 7, including the first session of an Australian Sailing ratified start sailing course for people who want to learn to sail a dinghy.
“There will also be opportunities to sail on larger yachts, outside the marina,” Mr Utley said.
“The club hosts social events all through the year and social, family, senior and junior memberships are offered.”
The Discover Sailing events will run from 9am-noon this Sunday and on Saturday, September 16 with sausage sizzles to follow.
