Suzie Logue told the Times after years of deterioration at Two Rocks Shopping Centre, residents had taken it on themselves to revamp the grounds.

‘A few years have gone by and the deterioration of the area continued, much to the dismay of all of us,’ she said.

‘Few visitors frequented the centre, and the appearance of the shops I believe deterred tourists and customers alike.

‘With generous help from IGA and the Yanchep Garden Centre, several new plantings of bottlebrush appeared, garden beds were re-established, and a general fantastic improvement was evident.

‘Residents who had invested in this beautiful area have enjoyed seeing the place transformed.’

Derek Oldham and Tony George started working on the gardens about two years ago, and recently started upgrading the landscaping around the car parks.

Mr Oldham said Yanchep Garden Centre was helping supply trees for the car parks and he now had a contract with the shopping centre managers, Lease Equity, to maintain the gardens and car parks.

Ms Logue said another resident, John Clarke, donated several norfolk pines, and the Two Rocks IGA owners and other businesses had contributed.
