Dog trapped in Yanchep drain in Perth’s north

RSPCA inspectors have called off a search for a dog, reportedly stuck in a drain in Jindowie, for now but are still in discussions as to what to do next.

An RSCPA spokeswoman confirmed officers explored the drain this morning but found no signs of the canine.

“For now, where it was reported where the sounds had come from, it’s quite definitive that there doesn’t seem to be anything there,” she said.

“They’re still in touch with the people within that area… they’re still having discussions, it’s not like it’s completely handed over.”

Earlier, the RSPCA worked with rangers from the City of Wanneroo to investigate reports of the trapped animal.

The dog had reportedly been trapped since at least Tuesday, when residents heard barking coming from the drain on Ravensbourne Street, near Kalbarri Park.

Despite safety concerns previously preventing people from entering, Jindowie Residents Group said this morning via Facebook that the dog “should be out by the end of the day.”
