Donations needed

Launched on July 16, the VenuesWest Foodbank Appeal will run for a month, collecting donations of non-perishable and durable food items.

Sport and Recreation Minister Terry Waldron said more than 100,000 people were expected to visit the venues during this time.

‘We urge them to dig deep and get involved with the appeal,’ he said.

‘Each year two million Australians, or one in 10, seek assistance with food and around half of them are children. ‘For disadvantaged families, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be difficult when faced with the daily challenge of inadequate nutrition.’

Foodbank provides assistance to more than 55,000 people in need every month.

Collection bins can be found in the reception areas of both venues until August 16.
