‘Don’t leave your valuables in cars’

Clarkson Police Senior Sergeant Mal Jones said thieves continued to break into cars to take things left inside, such as wallets, phones and computers.

Sgt Jones said they were investigating CCTV after a wallet was taken from a car on Baldwin Lane, Butler, on July 24 and the credit cards were used for fraudulent transactions.

‘The cards were used five times within a very short space of time ” we have collected CCTV footage,’ he said.

In a separate incident, Sgt Jones said a woman’s wallet was removed from her handbag while she attended a playgroup session at the Butler Community Centre.

‘Between 2pm and 3pm on Monday, July 22, playgroup was going on at the community centre,’ he said. ‘Someone has come into the centre and opened her handbag.

‘(After the playgroup) she noticed it was opened and her wallet was gone.’

Sgt Jones said people should be mindful of where they leave their valuables.
