Drumming up fun

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

WOMEN and children joined in the first free community drum circle in Merriwa last week.

Hosted by the North Coastal Women's Shed, African Music Circles drummer Sarah Odartei facilitated the July 20 event.

Shed co-founder Ja-On Park said the monthly event would be held on the third Monday of each month and was open to the public, with afternoon tea provided.

"The drum circle brings people together in a unique rhythmic experience that transcends language and cultural barriers," she said.
