DANCERS will show off their talents in Clarkson in the lead-up to Easter.

A troupe from Da Beat Dance Studio will stage an Easter-themed performance at Ocean Keys shopping centre from 4pm on March 24.

Studio director Susan Rolton said performing at the shopping centre encouraged young dancers to feel more comfortable in front of a crowd.

“Some of the younger children sometimes experience shyness or nerves in their first few live shows,” she said.

“To dance somewhere familiar and close to home, while at the same time still in front of a large live audience, is a good way to overcome this.”

Ms Rolton said dancing encouraged an active lifestyle in children as well as fostering a sense of confidence and was an outlet that could also offer unusual experiences.

“Last September a group of our students from the ages of seven to 26 travelled to the United States and performed at Disneyland, California Adventure Park and Universal Studios,” she said.

“For some it was their first trip overseas and they had an absolute blast; it was an experience they’ll remember forever.”

This Thursday’s show will feature 15 Da Beat students aged from 10 to 24 , with the audience invited to solve an Easter mystery by dancing and singing along.

The event is part of several free Easter activities that started last weekend, including egg hunts planned throughout the centre until March 28.

The Easter Bunny will hop through the centre periodically between tomorrow and Sunday, March 27.
