MORE than 500 people dug in to pot hundreds of native plants at an environmental event in Eglinton this month.

Allara estate residents helped pot 355 plants at the Enviro-day event on July 10, as well as decorating pots and participating in a ‘junk bugs’ craft workshop.

Participants also met Carnaby’s black cockatoos, enjoyed a free sausage sizzle and received re-usable shopping bags.

“It was really, really good- you should do it more often,” resident Michelle Tree said to organisers.

“The kids don’t want to leave.”

Participants potted native plants and decorated pots.
