THIS year is proving to hold good fortune for future Eglinton residents Jonathon Blaze and Crystal Biel.

The couple recently won a competition that will shave $40,000 off their home build after buying a homesite in the Amberton estate in December.

Their names were randomly drawn from Stockland’s pile of entries. Their prize included a $20,000 rebate on the block and another $20,000 off the cost of building after being referred by builder Aveling Homes.

Mr Blaze (29), who is still recovering from a stroke in 2015, said “couldn’t believe our luck”.

“This is an awesome start to 2016… we are over the moon,” he said.

Mr Blaze said it was turning into a special year for the couple, who got married in March and are expecting their second child in August.

“We hope to be living in our new home at Amberton by Christmas,” he said.

“I am so happy about this amazing chain of events as it was pretty tough last year.’’

The diesel mechanic suffered the stroke after he fell and hit his head at work in August 2015.

“I am still receiving physio and am yet to return to work but fortunately the neurologist has said that I should make a full recovery,’’ he said.

Mr Blaze said that the couple, whose son Logan is one-and-a-half, started looking for a new home late last year that would cater for their growing family.

“We chose Amberton because it is a really nice beachside community that has a great park,’’ he said.
