Carers from the northern suburbs were able to learn about local community and carer respite services, with displays from more than 30 organisations.

Run by the Independent Living Centre (ILC) with the City of Wanneroo and Satterley, the expo was opened by Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts, who shared her personal experience as a carer.

ILC executive director Gerri Clay said that with more than 2.5 million Australians providing care for family or friends, it was important that carers were aware of the support available to them.

‘It was a very successful event and we received excellent feedback from carers and service provi-ders,’ she said.
