Their latest event was a fundraising stall at Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City, where people could have their photo taken on a police motorcycle.

The weekend raised $1871 ” ‘an amazing effort for only two days’, Hayley Engelbrecht said.

The Butler family, which is part of the Inspired Crusaders volunteer group, was inspired to raise money for Bright Blue after their daughter Sinead was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour at 11 weeks of age.

She required six times her own volume in blood, brain surgery and 14 months of chemotherapy, but she is now in remission.

‘She was expected to be severely brain damaged with limited quality of life if she was to survive at all, which was unlikely,’ Mrs Engelbrecht said.

‘Surpassing all expectations, she attends three-year-old kindy and is loving life.

‘However, her journey is not over and we need to find a cure for childhood cancer.’

Last year, the Engelbrecht family raised $12,000 for Bright Blue.
