Firies contain Yanchep Pine Plantation blaze

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

Reported about 1pm on November 14, the Department of Parks and Wildlife said the cause of the fire was unknown.

It had burned through about 60ha by Sunday morning, but was contained and DPAW firefighters had been mopping up since then. While there was no threat to lives or homes, DPAW did issue advice about road closures and smoke.

On Tuesday, another fire started in the Pinjar Pine Plantation, which DPAW firefighters and volunteer bushfire brigades extinguished by yesterday morning.

Volunteers from local brigades, including Quinns Rocks Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade, headed to the Great Southern region yesterday to help fight bush fires sparked by lightning on Sunday.
