Deputation moves Wanneroo council to defer Eglinton Foreshore plan decision

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

Councillor Dianne Guise successfully moved that the September 15 report be referred back to staff after representatives of Amberton Estate sent a deputation.

Speaking prior to the meeting, Woodsome Management director Tasio Cokis said the company had been involved in the project for 20 years, with Eglinton Estates owning the land since 1994.

He said the foreshore plan included conserving 500ha of coastal dunes.

Stockland regional manager Damian Long said the City staff’s recommendation to relocate the proposed cafe would take away its ocean views.

Mr Long said the developer would cover costs of moving the cafe when erosion encroached on the beachfront location and that was unlikely to happen for at least 10 years.

He said it would take 24 hours to move the transportable building and have signage to show the location was temporary.
