Fourth groyne at Quinns Beach gets council tick

Lucy JarvisNorth Coast Times

CITY of Wanneroo councillors approved building and extending groynes along Quinns Beach at their Tuesday 4 meeting.

Without discussion, elected members unanimously supported a recommendation to three stages of long term coastal management works, starting with building a $2.2 million fourth groyne in 2017-18.

The second $2.8 million stage would involve extending the second groyne in 2018-19 and then the City would spend $1.7 million extending the third groyne in 2019-20.

The council decision also notes the City is seeking State Government funding and will allocate an extra $3.5 million in the latter two years to cover the budget shortfall.

The fourth groyne will be located north of the three existing groynes.
