SWIMMERS in Alkimos keen to hone their open water swimming skills can attend free clinics over the next four weeks.

The sessions, held Sunday mornings at Alkimos beach, aim to help Shorehaven estate residents prepare for the Swimming WA Open Water Swimming series event that will be held at Waterfront Park on February 19.

It is part of a three-year sponsorship agreement between developer Peet and Swimming WA.

Resident Lynn Pyke registered daughters Abigail (14) and Ruby (11) for the clinics for the second consecutive year.

“They absolutely loved the excitement of it all and as a parent it gives me reassurance that they are safe in the water,” she said.

The two-hour clinics will be held from 8.30am on January 22 and 29 and February 5 and 12.

Participants must be estate residents aged 9 and up and it is recommended to attend at least three sessions. To register, email community@peet.com.au by January 25. For details on the February 19 competition, visit www.openwaterswimming.com.au.
