CONSTRUCTION has started on a marine-themed playground in Two Rocks, which is due to open by Christmas.

The City of Wanneroo recently approved plans for the Constellation Park playground in Atlantis Beach Estate.

The park’s focal point will be an underwater marine theme playground with swings, climbing frames and cubbyhouses, plus a picnic area with a pergola and barbecue area.

“It will be a major central parkland of more than 22,000sq m and the first stage of this park will cover around 7500sq m,” project director Jarrod Rendell said.

“Constellation Park has been designed to cater for a full range of children from toddlers to early teenagers as the playground includes rope climbing frames, swings and cubbyhouses with designs focused on sea animals.

“We’ll also be planting more than 24 large mature trees.”

Mr Rendell said they had sold more than 65 per cent of lots in that stage and construction had started on about 20 homes.

He said other infrastructure works in the suburb included a medical centre and childcare centre that were due to open in 2018.
