MINDARIE sports clubs could have brighter floodlights and more storage space at Abbeville Reserve by the end of the year.

The park is used by Mindarie Football Club, Mindarie Little Athletics Club, Quinns Rocks Junior Cricket Club and Mindarie Primary School.

A City of Wanneroo council report said floodlights upgrades could be finished in November, and storage rooms could be built by late October.

It said the soccer club had asked for $400,000 received through the Local Projects Local Jobs program to upgrade floodlights to 100 lux to meet match level requirements, rather than the 50 lux suited to training.

The council accepted the State Government funding and approved budget amendments at its February meeting.

The funding means the project is brought forward from 2019-20 to 2018-19 and the City can reallocate $350,000 listed for it in its long term capital works program.
