Graffiti vandal caught on gym roof

POLICE charged a man with graffiti offences after he was caught on a gym roof overnight.

Clarkson Acting Senior Sergeant Darren Lumb said a member of the public reported a man on the roof of a Merriwa business about 1.41am on Friday, September 13.

Police attended and found the man on the roof, and investigation manager Rachel Kremer said they had to call DFES to help apprehend him.

Sgt Lumb said there was extensive damage to the building on Hughie Edwards Drive, including a large tag about “six feet tall by 10 feet wide” on a sign, and to a fence and wall on the property.

“He has caused a lot of money’s worth of damage,” he alleged.

Police charged a Quinns Rocks man (22) with damage, trespass and possession of implements with intent to do graffiti damage.

He was released on bail and is due to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on October 7.

Sgt Lumb said the investigation was ongoing.
