The Clarkson resident will give a floortalk about the current Behind the Lines 2013 exhibition at Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre on October 2.

Mr Gray said he missed out on a place at an art college after school and spent nine years in the Royal Air Force in the UK before migrating to Perth in 1969.

The Dagtoons creator said he tried submitting cartoons to various publications that are now defunct, then took up driving interstate coaches until about 1989.

‘I started freelancing in my spare time around 1995 and joined the Australian Black and White Artists Club in 1997, which went on to become the Australian Cartoonists Association,’ he said.

‘These days I mainly do caricatures at corporate events and take private commissions.’

Having known many of Australia’s cartoonists through the association, Mr Gray said he would talk about their styles, where and how they work before drawing a few caricatures of willing attendees.

The free event will run from 6pm to 8pm on October 2.
