GARDEN educators will help to plant the seeds of a more sustainable future when they host a free gardening workshop in Eglinton on Saturday.

The Great Gardens team, including founder Chris Ferreira, will be offering advice to all types of gardeners at the July 23 workshop at the Dale Alcock Homes display home on Charleston Road.

Free coffee will be provided at the workshop, being supported by Amberton estate developer Stockland, while people learn about waterwise gardening, soil improvement, turf alternatives, mulching and irrigation systems.

Stockland general manager Col Dutton encouraged people from around Eglinton to register.

“This workshop on July 23 will be handy for anyone who is planning a new garden or just wanting to make improvements to an established garden,’’ Mr Dutton said.

Mr Dutton said low maintenance garden designs were increasingly popular.

“Many modern families don’t have a great deal of time to spend maintaining a garden so it makes sense to have a sustainable, outdoor space that is easy to care for,’’ he said.
