Quinns Beach Primary students wore green on March 17 and donated gold coins for the garden attached at the school.

‘They raised $407.70, which will purchase hay and feeding pellets for chickens when they arrive at the end of March,’ learning support co-ordinator Kelly Johnson said.

The community garden is still in the establishment phase.

However, the school currently has a fruit orchard, a composting zone, worm farm and built-up garden beds with reticulation.

‘The community garden needs the community of Quinns Rocks to get involved and will in the future have gardening plots available for families to use,’ Ms Johnson said.
