Group marks first year

About 90 people attended the North Coastal Women's Shed event at Addison Park clubrooms in Merriwa on April 28.

The group started last year following the first Imagine Merriwa forum co-ordinated by the North Metropolitan Public Health Unit in December 2013.

Shed co-founder Ja-On Park said the idea responded to the need to give women of all backgrounds opportunities to socialise, learn and support each other.

Its Facebook group now has more than 400 members, and members meet in Merriwa on Mondays and Tuesdays for a variety of workshops.

Members also provide a free tutoring service for school children in Clarkson on Wednesday afternoons. For more information, email ncws2014@gmail.|com.
